Not that long ago, people were reluctant to reveal that they had had “work done” on their faces or bodies. Perhaps people did not want to seem vain, or maybe they wanted to give the illusion that Mother Nature had blessed them with eternal youth and unparalleled metabolism. For whatever the reason, it was an unmentionable subject. Therefore, a tummy tuck might be referred to as some sort of necessary abdominal surgery. Face lifts and nose jobs were habitually denied. This secretive attitude is still often maintained by celebrities, and the cosmetic surgery histories of the stars are still trendy topics of conversation.

For those of us who find ourselves spinning so fast that our life seems but a blur, we need to STOP and think about where we are and where we are heading. For those of us whose days blend into each other so much so that we can’t distinguish one day from the next. We need to STOP and think about why each day of our life is the same. For those of us who find it difficult to do the things we always say we wanted to do and never do them, we need to STOP and think about why we don’t do the things we want to do. For those of us who are so afraid to take the first step off the Island to change for the better, we need to STOP and ask ourselves, what are we afraid of? As the renowned American poet Maya Angelou says, “Life loves the liver of it.” Are you a liver of Life? You can do a unique thing such as learn to speak French fluently to take you to experiences you would not have otherwise.

Diamonds have always been the jewel in the crown, whether you were the Empress of India and Queen of the entire British Empire. Which is, by the way celebrating 150 years since the 1858 first great bong from the famed bell clock of British Parliament, Big Ben. Another of diamonds in it’s way. However, in 1936 the father of Queen Elizabeth began, but did not end his reign as Emperor of India, but rather as mere King George after 1947, upon independence of India and Pakistan. The diamond jewel remains in the crown, but is no longer what it once was. Now symbol, not power.

Researchers, with the help of brain scans have uncovered shocking differences in perception between Westerners and Asians, what they see when they look at a city street, for example, or even how they perceive a simple line in a square, according to findings published in a leading science journal.

Although we may not always realise that we are doing it, we normally place conditions on our happiness. We decide that we will be happy when certain conditions are met in our lives - for instance, we might decide that we must live in a particular type of house in a particular location for us to be truly satisfied and happy . Or it might be about a situation that we feel must come about - for example, we decide that we must get a particular job promotion so that we can be content in our work. There is one other big condition that we often set before we think we can find happiness - we must find Mr or Mrs Right. We believe another person in the shape of a partner will make us happy.
